Daith Earrings and Piercings

What is a Daith Piercing and Why is It So Popular?

A daith piercing is located in the innermost part of your ear’s cartilage, just above the ear canal. It is pierced through a small fold of cartilage. This piercing has seen a surge in popularity. As our founder Luisa says, 'My daith piercing is definitely one of my favourite piercings! A super fun solid gold daith earring with front-facing detail really completes a curated ear. It’s the perfect piercing for a statement piece of jewellery that sits perfectly within your ear.'

Kirsten (pictured below) says ;"I've had a lot piercings and I can honestly say it's the best piercing I've had so far. I have a few daith hoops from Zohreh V. but I love this beaded hoop as it sits perfectly in my ear and love the beaded design.'

Best Jewellery for Daith Piercings:

Front-facing hoops are best design for daith piercings. All our daith hoops are a seamless design, allowing them to sit comfortably against the ear. This design ensures that the hoop details remains visible, which is ideal for a daith piercing. It enhances the natural contour of the ear, drawing attention to the piercing and creating a super fun look.

 Aftercare Tips and Healing Timeline

As with any piercing, proper aftercare is crucial to ensure proper healing and prevent complications. Here’s what you need to know to care for your daith piercing:

Initial Healing Period:

Daith piercings can take anywhere from 6 to 9 months to heal fully, although it can take longer for cartilage piercings to fully settle. During the healing period, it’s important to avoid touching the piercing with dirty hands or exposing it to bacteria. Clean the area daily with a saline solution such a Neilmed Piercing Mist. Avoid using alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, as they can irritate the piercing.

Post-Healing Care:

After the initial healing period, your piercing may still be sensitive for a while, so continue to be gentle when cleaning and handling it. Avoid sleeping directly on the pierced side to reduce pressure and irritation, and keep hair and products like hairspray away from the piercing during the healing process. If you experience any discomfort, swelling, or unusual discharge, it’s important to consult your piercer or a healthcare professional immediately.

Does a daith piercings hurt?

It is commonly though that daith piercings are extremely painful. While cartilage piercings can be more uncomfortable than lobe piercings, the pain is typically brief and manageable. Most people describe the sensation as a sharp pinch followed by a dull ache, and the pain usually subsides quickly.

Do Daith Piercings help with migraines?

Some people believe that daith piercings can help alleviate migraines. While some people report feeling relief after getting a daith piercing, there is no scientific evidence to support the idea that the piercing itself provides consistent or lasting migraine relief. The belief stems from the idea that the location of the piercing is similar to an acupuncture point thought to help with migraines, but the results are largely anecdotal and vary from person to person.
