The Complete Guide to Flat Back Earrings: Comfort Meets Luxury

When it comes to earrings, comfort and style are equally important, and flat back earrings provide the perfect balance of both. In this guide, we'll explore what makes flat back earrings unique, the materials, styling options, and tips on how to care for your jewellery

What Are Flat Back Earrings?

Flat back earrings (also referred to as labrets) are a type of stud earring that features a flat, smooth backing that rests against the ear. Unlike stud earrings, which use a post with a butterfly back, flat back earrings have an internal screw into a flat back post that ensures a secure, comfortable fit. This design eliminates the sharp post that can often irritate the ear, making them ideal for everyday wear and comfort.

Benefits of Flat Back Earrings

The biggest advantage of flat back earrings is the comfort they offer. With the back of the earring flush against your ear, there’s no chance of the post digging into your skin or causing irritation.

Additionally, the flat back design provides a more secure fit than traditional earrings. The backing stays in place more reliably, reducing the risk of losing an earring throughout the day. Whether you’re at work, at the gym, or out on the town, you can trust that your flat back earrings will stay in place.

Materials Used in Flat Back Earrings

Our Flat back earrings are designed for everyday wear that you can just leave in whatever you do. We only use the finest recycled solid gold in either 9k or 14k yellow & white gold.

1.     Solid gold flat back earrings are perfect metal for every day wear. Solid gold will never permanently change colour. They are kind to your ears and hypoallergenic. For new piercings in particular 14k gold is recommended.

  1. White Gold Flat Back Earrings is the perfect choice for those who prefer white, silver coloured jewellery rather than the classic yellow coloured jewellery. The benefits of white gold in particular for piercing jewellery is that gold is more durable and resistant to scratches to help reduce bacterial build up for new piercings.
  2. Diamond Flat Back Earrings to add a touch of sparkle, diamond flat back earrings are a stunning option. Whether set in solid gold or white gold, diamond flat back earrings add a luxurious touch to any outfit, making them perfect for special occasions or everyday luxury.

Care and Maintenance of Flat Back Earrings

To ensure your flat back diamond earrings or solid gold flat back earrings remain in pristine condition, it’s important to follow proper care and maintenance. Here are a few tips:

  • Clean Regularly: Gently clean your earrings with a soft cloth to remove dirt and oils. For diamond or gold earrings, use a mild soap solution and a soft toothbrush to clean the surface.
  • Store Properly: Store your earrings in a jewellery box or pouch to avoid scratches. For extra protection, keep them in individual compartments to prevent tangling or damage.
  • Avoid Chemicals: Avoid exposing your flat back earrings to harsh chemicals like perfumes, lotions, or cleaning products. These substances can tarnish or damage the material over time.

Styling Flat Back Earrings

One of the best aspects of flat back earrings is their versatility. These earrings can be styled in various ways depending on the ear placement. Here are a few ideas to inspire your next look:

  • Helix Piercing: Try a crawler flat back earring that frames the part of the ear perfectly a flat back earring is perfect for this placement for comfort especially while sleeping.

Flat Back Earrings vs. Traditional Earring Backs

While traditional earrings have a post and butterfly clutch that can sometimes cause discomfort, flat back earrings offer a smoother, more comfortable alternative. The flat back design eliminates the risk of irritation or pressure against the ear, especially for those who wear their earrings all day or sleep in them. Additionally, flat back earrings provide a more secure fit, ensuring they stay in place without the need for constant adjustments.
